Breast Surgery Recovery Shirt I Wish I’d Had

Here it is, the breast surgery recovery shirt I wish I’d had and you can order it right here: from the Healinincomfort site. Healincomfort will pay shipping. Now that’s a deal!

One part of my job as a patient advocate and Founder and Director of DiepCFoundation.org is finding products making healing and recovery from breast cancer easier for patients. I have been through six different surgeries for breast cancer and breast reconstruction. My double mastectomy and DIEP flap breast reconstruction both required surgical drains. They were not my favorite part of recovery but necessary to drain out accumulated surgical fluid. The amount of time a patient has surgical drains can be a couple of weeks and sometimes a little over a month. It really depends on the individual healing mechanisms of each patient. This is why I am happy to write about the Healincomfort breast surgery recovery shirt I wish I’d had.

I learned about the shirt through social media. It caught my eye when I read the story of how Cherie B. Mathews designed the shirt after her own breast cancer surgery. She sent me a packet so I could take a look at the shirt myself. Cherie made the point I really should have one to see how it works myself in case I knew others who could use it.

I am excited I have partnered with the Healincomfort affiliate program. Now, when you order the shirt, a portion of the proceeds will go back to DiepCFoundation.org. We so appreciate the affiliation since the Foundation provides personal support to patients, has printing costs for educational materials and time and travel costs to produce education videos about breast reconstruction surgery with board certified plastic surgeons, and offers resources for patients. Cherie and I both feel it is a “pay it forward” collaboration to continue to assist those we know will need a comfortable shirt to recover in.

Here’s what I like about the Shirt.

  • The four pockets for the drains are hidden on the inside of the shirt.
  • The tubes for the drains are also tucked inside the shirt so they are not hanging out.
  • It’s lightweight with a moisture wicking quality.
  • The Velcro closures on the front of the shirt are easy closure when your arms are healing from surgery and have limited strength.
  • This shirt could easily be layered with another shirt underneath for chillier days.
  • The material is very soft to the touch.
  • Throw it in the washing machine for quick and easy clean up and drying. It gets softer with each wearing.
  • Free shipping with 2-3 day guaranteed tracking.

When I was diagnosed, I sometimes didn’t know who was worried more about me having surgery, me or my family and friends. One of the first thing they would say when they would come to visit before my surgery or call on the phone was this:

“What can I do to help? Please don’t hesitate to let me know. Really, anything!”

Now I know what I would have told them. I would send them to the Healincomfort site to purchase this shirt for me. I know they spent the same amount on flowers that I eventually had to toss. That wouldn’t have been the case with the shirt. I would have loved to have this shirt after my mastectomy. Seven months later I could have used it again after my DIEP flap surgery. Let your friends know how they can help you with recovery with the Healincomfort breast surgery recovery shirt I wished I’d had.
