Collaboration in Educating about Breast Reconstruction

My favorite word throughout my education career has always been “collaboration”. So is the case now in my role as Founder of DiepCFoundation.org. I couldn’t feel any stronger about collaboration in educating about breast reconstruction. The change leaders I have met in the past three years on my own personal quest to educate more women and men about options in breast reconstruction motivate me daily to do more, explore new avenues to educate, support them in their mission, and stand beside them collaboratively to continue this work.

This week on my social media feeds I have seen an announcement by Patricia Anstett that her book, Breast Cancer Surgery and Reconstruction, What’s Right for You, is now out on paperback on Amazon. Congratulations are in order as this was a professional labor of love for Pat.

Full disclosure: Yes! I’m featured in the book and proud of it. However, I have no financial gains from the book. The benefits I reap from being in the book are purely from an educational standpoint by telling the successful experience of my DIEP flap breast reconstruction at PRMA from the highly skilled and ASPS board certified, Dr. Minas Chrysopoulo, also featured in the book.

Three years ago, when Pat reached out to me through social media, I had no idea who she was and exactly what it was she wanted to speak to me about. I was honored and understandably thrilled to be part of her book since I was just beginning my current work in breast reconstruction education. It has been exciting to watch the research, writing, production, and release of her book.

How Does this Collaboration Work?

Collaboration in Educating about Breast Reconstruction

You can choose a nonprofit organization to support on Amazon Smile and I hope you chose DiepCFoundation and I hope you purchase Pat’s book! That’s the collaboration in educating about breast reconstruction. Through the efforts of Amazon Smile, they make the donation through your purchase. You can go to the Amazon Smile page easily through the Foundation website by clicking on the logo. Sign in to your Amazon account as usual and it should say you are supporting DiepCFoundation. Find Pat’s book to add to your own bookshelf as a reference for information about breast cancer surgery and reconstruction.

Collaboration in educating about breast reconstruction? You bet! Kudos for the success of the book Pat! It’s on my book shelf as a reference source. I’m truly honored I was able to have you and Dr. C sign a copy for my parents, who also have it on their book shelf. The circle of collaboration continues!
